The firm was set up in August 1998 by Kareem Qureshi, a specialist with over 25 years of expertise in CRM strategy, software and database management. Born and brought up in the United Kingdom, Kareem spent much of his early career days working for UK’s largest banks and telcos. Some years and adventures later, Kareem arrived in Malaysia in 1998 for a 1-month consulting assignment and has not left since!
Kareem decided that Malaysia deserved a high-performance CRM capability at par with global players. So, he set up Star Solutions with a vision to providing companies in Asia with access to cutting-edge CRM tools and processes, world class marketing strategies, supported by an understanding of the intricacies of the local market.
In 2002, Kareem was joined in his quest to create value for Clients by his business partner, Sharada Balagopalan, a world-class marketing specialist from India with over 16 years of expertise in CRM. With her sound skills in marketing strategy and execution, she defined in practical, actionable terms what marketers needed and how Star Solutions could support Clients around the region.
Together, Kareem and Sharada’s unique combination of technology and marketing skills allowed them to create a hugely compelling proposition in terms of CRM software and services, giving Clients all the marketing ammunition they needed to engage with their customers efficiently and effectively.
STARDriver® CRM Engine, responsible for solving countless problems for Clients in the area of data management, multi-channel communications, tracking and reporting is just one of the many innovations from Kareem and Sharada.

Kareem has over 25 years of international CRM experience across UK, Europe and Asia-Pacific. He has designed and developed CRM software for global banks, telcos and marketing agencies such as Ogilvy. He founded Star Solutions as a means to fulfil his passion for solving problems for Clients, using math and technology. STARDriver® CRM Engine is the realization of that vision! When not providing innovation and inspiration to his team, you will find him scuba diving, running marathons, duathlons, triathlons and riding fast bikes!
Sharada has over 16 years of CRM experience across Asia-Pacific, India and Middle East. She cut her teeth in marketing at FedEx Express and developed award-winning loyalty programs such as FedEx Purple Club and Fashion Express, both of which were rolled out globally. Sharada has conceptualized and implemented several ROI-generating initiatives for Clients. With her strong skills in marketing, data and technology, she brings structure and focus to a world of chaos. When not driving the team, she enjoys marathons, duathlons, kickboxing, yoga and cooking.
A lawyer turned marketer, Julian gave up the world of law to run s for Clients at Star Solutions. Detailed and meticulous, he is responsible for operations on a day-to-day basis and is a favorite amongst Clients. When not working, he is a talented wedding photographer and a keen entomologist!
Jonie brings to the table 15 years of experience in loyalty management cutting across strategy, execution and measurement. She previously headed up the loyalty program for MBF cards and has also had the amazing experience of being an entrepreneur in the restaurant business. Her interests outside of work include diving, travelling, reading and movies.
Tania Anis Binti Mohtar
With a background in 3D animation, Tania made the leap into the world of marketing in 2013 as a social media analyst before moving into managing marketing contracts and to date, project management. With over 5 years of experience, she engages with clients on a daily basis running and managing s for our clients here in Malaysia. During her free time, she loves spending time with her daughter and enjoys reading, writing and sketching.
Wong Syh Shyan
Shyan comes from a loyalty background having managed loyalty programs and vendor sourcing for banking clients in the past. She is also experiencec in customer relations having also managed the retention of high valued customers and their membership for Reebonz. In short, her 5 years of working experience covers loyalty, customer engagement and e-commerce operations. Shyan has a degree in Hotel & Tourism management and her interests includes listening to foreign music and reading articles on fashion, lifestyle and travel.
Hasnain hails from Pakistan and has over 5 years of experience working in countries across the APAC region. He holds a degree in Accounting and Commerce but it was his love for Communication that drew him to the world of telemarketing. An important trait in this field. Being someone meticulous and detailed, he oversees customer service operations in Star Solutions and ensures top quality service delivery by his agents week on week. Behind the serious face hides an easy going personality that cracks everyone up with his jokes.
